Pray for my sanity. Please.

I have spent the morning trying desperately to find somewhere else besides my house to be.  The contractors came today and started on the floor.  At one point today you could look down and see dirt where my kitchen and den floor used to be.  Just so you know, I've taken before shots, you'll get to see it when its all done.  What are we doing?  We are putting hardwood floors in the kitchen and den (replacing 100 year old linoleum and 5 year old carpet), putting recessed lighting in, refacing most of the kitchen cabinets, and building new cabinets for cooktop and double ovens.  Moving the washer/dryer from the kitchen/garage to a hall closet.  Granite counters, stainless appliances and removing a built-in desk and replacing it with built-in bookshelves.  I'm so excited I could scream.  I'm also so nervous I could poop my pants.

Yes, we are FINALLY getting the updated kitchen I've always dreamed about.  OK, maybe not the one I've always dreamed about, but the one we can afford.  I ran out of places to go, so we are locked in the back room.  Whoo Hoo!  Listening to pounding, hammering and some other noise that just plain makes me cringe.  I'm about to go and drop off one of the children to play with a friend and I guess the other one and I will find something nice to do together.

I'm deep breathing, for serenity.

Just so you know, I do have ugly teal countertops. OK, maybe a 1954 aqua - but it's pretty gross. I did escape the teal checked floor though. But mine is linoleum - its just white on white.

MMMM, maybe I should keep it instead.

I always find the library a comfort. Or what about a movie?

A remodeling job would be wonderful but it'd send me into a bawl, sitting in the corner sucking my thumb.

Good luck on getting it done and I'll say a little prayer for ya.

Been there, lived through it. You'll get through it too! For some reason all of my "during" pictures have a bottle of Captain in them...

Have fun, enjoy the process, it seems like it takes forever and a day, but when it's over you be glad!!
In a year you'll look back and wonder how you got through this time!
(We did the whole house at once - bedrooms included!!)

Sanity is over-rated anyway. How long will it take to be finished, or is that a horrible question to ask right now?

At least when it's all over, you'll have an awesome kitchen!
