I need some justification

Saturday - tickets go on sale for two of my favorite bands.  TWO.  Yes!!!  Wait for it....

SILVERSUN PICKUPS IS OPENING UP FOR MUSE.  AND THEY ARE GOING TO BE IN MY TOWN!

Ok, so technically its the town next to me, but I'm willing to drive 1/2 an hour.  I'm also willing to spend money I don't have to see the BEST LIVE BAND EVER.   The only problem is justifying it.  I don't think I actually can, so if the ticket fairy is out there anywhere.....I need to see MUSE.  Seriously.

I'll probably have to send a bottle of wine after this

I almost fainted a little while ago. Seriously fell out of my chair in shock after reading a friends Facebook update. She follows this blog, and will probably read this and its not like she didn't put this out there on Facebook so I'll cross my fingers I won't get in trouble for posting this...

SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHO COLDPLAY IS.

Yes, you heard me right. I immediately offered to enroll her in the Dijea School of Music. I am known for coming up with obscure band that are then mainstream 6 months later. I La-la-love music and seriously need to burn her some CD's or something, but then I stop and I wonder if I actually did that would she listen? If she doesn't know who Coldplay is will she know other bands like Band of Horses or Keane, should I even try to introduce her to Chevelle or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Maybe a little Ting Tings.

In her defense, she listens to NPR, but so does my mother and why anyone would want to learn things or stay updated in this incredibly depressing time is beyond me, but then I'm shallow and have no drive so I guess that is my answer.

What if she's never heard Radiohead or The Foo Fighters? OMG, Where are my smelling salts?

I'm too old????

I was talking at work yesterday with a girl in the office about music.  I said I had a song stuck in my head by Does it Offend You, Yeah?  We also talked about Foo Fighters (my fav!), Jackson United, Kings of Leon, Keane, Death Cab for Cutie & The Verve.

Some of my current favorites.

I was informed by a gentleman in my office I was too old to listen to that stuff.  What??????  I realize I'm 40, but my life hasn't ended.  You don't turn 40 and immediately like elevator music or prefer singer songwriters from the 70's.  Oh, and I do like singer/songwriters from the 70's.  I love 80's music.  But I could listen to Sirius' ALT NATION all day long!  I could!  Honest to you-know-who.

Who else do I love?  Interpol, Cold War Kids, Kaiser Chiefs (love the new single!), The Black Keys, Low vs. Diamond, and MGMT.  I also love my classics like The Who, The Clash, Pink Floyd.  Great 80's & 90's bands you know the ones you hear on 1st Wave.  AND TOM JONES ROCKS LIVE!

I love music and I hate that some - forgive me for saying this - old dude says that now that I've hit my 40's I can't listen to what I like.  Go back to your easy listening/elevator music and leave me to discover the latest next big thing.

Music is my happy pill.

I love music.  I can't carry a tune, I can't sing, but I love to listen.  I listen to everything.  My ipod is an huge mish mash of everything.  I have tons of Alternative, some Head Banging Rock, some Opera & Classical, I have country, blue grass, christian/gospel, tons of 80's new wave and even some 70's singer/songwriter gems.  But right this minute  Waylon Jennings popped up on iTunes and my stress went out the window.  That man had a voice like no other.

The man can sing.

Yes, I just went to a George Michael concert.  It was really good.  The only way I could have enjoyed it more was to be a middle aged gay man on a date with a hot younger man.  Ok, maybe that was a little far out there.  But I have to say the man can sing.  Unstable, you missed a good show.  Freedom was the second encore and it rocked.

You must get this. Or at least check them out.

I downloaded this album yesterday from I Tunes.  Then I saw that it was "the next big thing".  Then I really sat and listened to them.

LOVE THEM!  LOVE THEM!

Check this out.

ROCK ON!!!!

Dude, I saw Van Halen on Saturday night.  Rock On!  Dave is sooooooo gay.  Yes, I said it and its probably a sign of the apocalypse.  But that's what it looked like to me.

It was very entertaining.  It was actually Eddie Van Halen's birthday.  He was awesome, It was loud, David Lee Roth did not sing all the words to  the songs, but you mostly knew what was suppose to be seen.  So now I can mark this off my list.  As a woman who actually remembers the original Van Halen when David Lee Roth was the singer.  Although to be honest, I prefer Sammy Haggar.  Sammy is a great singer and VERY HOT!  Whoa, lost my train of thought.

It was a good show and I can say I saw them and wait for the next aging rock band to have some relative of Bob Marley open for them.
